DALE KIRK

Born in 1955 on Long Island, Dale Kirk’s love for photography developed from her father’s attraction for the art. “I remember watching him tinkering with cameras and compositions and felt like my dad was most at peace when he was looking through the lens”. Kirk’s career began 30 years ago with a family portrait studio and has now evolved to capturing landscapes and still life, experimenting with different techniques and large format printing. She finds the relatable image then plays with lighting, texture and camera angles, which begs the viewer to look a little closer at the image.

“Art allows me to express the experience I have had in a given space and share that moment with the viewer. The art of photography is always evolving with technology and I strive to learn from the greats: Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lang but explore new image manipulation techniques to alter the familiar.”
