Born in 1992 in Miami, Liv Dockerty is an American contemporary abstract painter. Her artistic process began as a child and developed much throughout her life. She was born into a family of contemporary art collectors and now her primary source of inspiration hails from the world around her, mainly nature and the sky, as well as music. Dockerty studied art and design at the Parsons New School for Design in New York City where she received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts.
Dockerty’s art is characterized by contrasting depths and vibrant colors, which give way to bold compositions. She experiments with mixed media and acrylic/oil paints on large-scale canvases. Influenced by the metallic, effervescent qualities portrayed in Gustav Klimt’s work, Dockerty strives to evoke a similar illuminating quality to her paintings. All of Dockerty’s paintings are titled after classic vinyl rock songs from the 60s and 70s, which is her preferred music of choice while she’s painting.
